Overview of Christian Caregiving at The Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word
Spirit led and pastor supported members of Incarnate Word love their neighbors as themselves as they purposefully engage in Christian caregiving.
Currently 20 “caregiver” members pay monthly visits to 26 homebound members. These visits occur in private homes, long-term care facilities and even hospital/hospice rooms as necessary. Our pastors visit these same homebound members, support the caregivers, and meet monthly with the lay leadership of this ministry to review the status of our homebound members as well as active members in need of temporary support due to illness or crisis. Together pastoral visits supplemented by lay visitation translate to approximately 40 personal contacts with members in need per month.
